In the report, primary data obtained from the surveys filled by several companies in the cold chains of the food and beverage sector, and secondary data are analyzed in order to define a benchmarking database on both input data and key performance index (KPIs). Furthermore, the implementation rate of different energy efficiency measures is also investigated.
The report provides insights on the F&B industry based on the data, followed with analyses of the storage, transportation activities and of the implementation rate of energy efficiency measures. The report concludes with policy recommendations for EU and national levels.
Primary data have been directly collected through interviews from suppliers, retailers, producers and must be stored in specific archives to ensure long-term accessibility. While secondary data are obtained from already existing databases and studies, e.g. from other EU projects and/or energy audits conducted by partners and/or scientific papers).
